A little further along the coast is the sandy beach at Pentewan village (3 miles), where visitors can hire bicycles for exploring the traffic free Pentewan Valley Trail or further afield to fascinating attractions including the Lost Gardens of Heligan (also just 3 miles from Bay View), as well as the amazing biomes of the Eden Project, and Charlestown, its beautiful Georgian harbour often graced by tall ships. Golf is available at Carlyon Bay (8 miles) and at Mevagissey, keen fishermen can enjoy a short mackerel fishing trip or a day's deep sea angling. The village pub is 400 yards and visitors will find a selection of shops in Mevagissey (¾ mile), whilst St Austell (6 miles) offers more extensive shopping.
